Description
This is a pipe from an estate collection we received, all pipes in this collection were lightly used and clearly cared for; we cleaned up and restored what was needed, and that was minimal due to the excellent care the previous owner took. We just had to do some light reeming, buffing, and polishing.
This is part of the Savinelli “Autograph” line, freehand pipes made 100% by hand. One of the highest grade lines that Savinelli puts out, these pipes are comparable to the finest Italian and Danish Freehand.
This particular Savinelli Autograph is a Danish Freehand style “Dublin” with a plateaued rim and beautifully excited neo-classical Italian shaping cues that can be seen in the heel, the shank transition, the nuanced taper to the shank, expertly crafted. They followed the grain beautifully, and this can be seen in the asymmetry, most noticeable on the left side of the shank transition. The bowl it tall, with thick walls to keep the hands warm. This pipe was made with the highest quality Italian briar to give a sweet and cool smoke. The Stem has a slight downward bend, so despite the large stummel, it will clench and balance well. Also, it’s stout aesthetic gives it a unique dynamic visual balance. This clearly expertly crafted pipe would make a great addition to any pipe smokers collection.
