This is a limited edition pipe tobacco from Mac Baren, Rustica 2023.
Rustica tobacco, nicotiana rustica, was the original tobacco imported to Europe and smoked by westerners, although is was shortly replaced by nicotiana tabacum (nicotiana tabacum is what all tobacco outside of the Peru area is, such as burly, Virginias, Orientals, Connecticut Broad Leaf and all other cigar tobacco, etc…).
In 2020 Mac Barren release there first limited run of “Rustica,” reintroducing the world to the flavors and other qualities of nicotiana rustica. Since then, a small handful of other brands have done limited runs of pipe tobacco (and snuff) with rustica. Released here, is the original Mac Baren Rustica, in limited quanities for 2023.
Nicotiana rustica is known to be one of, if not the strongest tobaccos, yet its strength comes on in a manageable fashion. Mac Barren does a wonderful job blending it with other more commonly known tobaccos harmoniously, yet letting the rustica be the star of the show.
This run is limited to 5,500 100 gram tins, each one numbered.
