Algerian Briar was destroyed during WWI, the last stock piles were turned into pipes in the 1960, and early 70s. Algerian Briar was known for being the lightest of all briars, extra heat resistant, and smoked sweater than other briars. No one uses in anymore, there are only scraps left that could make a pen, none big enough to make a pipe, in all the world.
There were different grade Algerian briar Lacroix. We bought all the remaining stock, and this and the ones we have left are their highest grade pipes. Brand new, untouched, since the mid 1960s, made in St Claude France.
