Description
This collectable tamper was handmade in the USA by pewter-smith Larry Blackett exclusively for LJ Peretti Co.
Blackett was inspired to offer this tamper because he wanted to pay homage to Edgar Allen Poe, whose statue stands in front of our shop. This space was re-done about 20 years ago to feature his statue, and re-named “Edgar Allen Poe Square.” Poe was born above our shop in this building, where his mother lived for most of her life. While he may not have been the greatest fan of the city (he referred to his mother’s genteel literary circle as “Frog Pondians”) he returned to Boston many times throughout his life.
Available only at LJ Peretti, this tamper commemorates the history of our shop and our connection to one of the great lights of American Literature.
