Another treasure from the early 1970s recently made its way into our collection: this Charatan’s Make Straight Grain Tomahawk. Measuring 6 1/4″ long with a 2 1/2″ bowl, it has the full script stamping of that era and an original double-comfort saddle bit in excellent condition. The flame grain flares out to follow the shape of the bowl perfectly, bringing consistent tight birdseye to the rim.
As a company, Charatan actually pre-dates Dunhill as the first English pipemaker to hand craft briars from start to finish. This carefully restored estate pipe is a great way to experience some of that history for yourself!
