Description
This Estate Charatan is graded “Selected”, one of the highest grades reserved for there best pipes. The shape is a 1/2 bent freehand Dublin with a plateau rim. This pipe has their proprietary “double comfort stem”.
Charatan was very well known to have excellent hand work on their pipes, altering the shape to display the grain as beautiful as possible; their priority to capture the grain was set above meeting the strict English shape chart standards; clearly ahead of their time, as that is how many contemporary pipe makers and brands operate. They clearly did an great job of capturing the grain here, as one would expect no less from Charatan.
This moderately smoked pipe is part of a recently acquired estate of Charatan’s Make pipes from the 60s to the 80s. It has been our pleasure to lovingly restore these rare and iconic pipes.
5 7/8″ long with a 2 3/8″ tall bowl.
