There workers study the blocks, always bringing out the best grains and/or finish from the blocks, producing stunning works of art.
This Castello “Old Antiquari” 4k 1/2 bent apple with a saddle stem, is in their proprietary “Old Antiquari” sand blasted finish in a cross-grain orientation. This is the epitome of a beautiful cross-grain sand blast, with ring grain going from the back to under the heel and up the shank complimented by stunning blasted birds-eye on each flank. This pipe is a perfect and brilliantly executed as one would expect no less from Castello. It has, as one would expect from Castello, the neo-classical Italian shaping cues Castello is credited for creating and essentially establishing as what Italian pipes look like (along with Caminetto and a few others).
